The GIBRALTAR MSSW10-5A-G is a threaded spring plunger with an M10 x 1.5 thread size and a standard stainless steel body. It is designed to locate, index, or retain components in mechanical assemblies by applying consistent spring-loaded force through a small-diameter nose. The plunger delivers an initial end force of 2.02 pounds and a final end force of 7.87 pounds, making it suitable for light-duty positioning and detent applications. Both the body and nose are constructed from stainless steel for corrosion resistance. Machinists, tool-and-die builders, and mechanical assembly technicians install this type of hardware in jigs, fixtures, and production equipment.
This spring plunger is used in precision mechanical assemblies where repeatable, spring-loaded contact or indexing is required. Typical applications include fixture alignment, panel retention, and component positioning in industrial tooling and equipment. The standard projection and metric M10 x 1.5 thread make it a common fit for metric-threaded housings found in both light manufacturing and heavy industrial fixture builds. It is installed by threading directly into a pre-tapped M10 x 1.5 hole in a metal body or fixture plate.
Designed as a standard-style threaded spring plunger for use in any metric M10 x 1.5 tapped bore in industrial fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, or mechanical assemblies requiring spring-loaded detent or positioning functions.
Installation requires a properly sized and tapped M10 x 1.5 through-hole or blind hole in the mating component. Use an appropriate hex key or spanner tool sized for the plunger body hex drive; do not over-torque, as stainless steel threads can gall. Ensure the plunger axis is aligned perpendicular to the mating contact surface to achieve accurate force and projection values. Depressurize or de-energize any assembly before servicing spring plungers in active machinery.
