The GIBRALTAR KN4X-5X-S3----- is a self-fixing hole tapered knob manufactured from polypropylene. It accepts multiple thread sizes in a single unit, including 1/4-20, 1/4-28, 5/16-18, 5/16-24, M6, and M8, making it a versatile hand-adjustment component for panel assemblies, enclosures, jigs, and equipment covers. The knob measures 2 inches overall length with a 1.38-inch head diameter and a 0.75-inch base diameter. The self-fixing hole design grips the fastener without a set screw, allowing tool-free installation and removal. The black polypropylene body resists corrosion and is suited for both indoor and light industrial environments.
This tapered knob is used wherever a hand-tightened adjustment point is needed on threaded hardware. Common applications include electrical enclosure latches, HVAC equipment access panels, test fixtures, and control cabinet assemblies. The multi-thread compatibility reduces the need to stock separate knobs for different fastener standards, which is useful for service technicians working across mixed-standard equipment. It is sold individually and is appropriate for new installations or replacement of worn or damaged hand knobs on existing assemblies.
Designed for use with threaded fasteners in the 1/4-20, 1/4-28, 5/16-18, 5/16-24, M6, and M8 size range. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or new-install hand knob on equipment panels, enclosures, and fixtures that use any of those thread standards.
Installation requires no special tools — press the self-fixing hole over the threaded stud or bolt by hand. Ensure the mating fastener is clean and free of debris before seating the knob. For enclosure or panel applications on energized equipment, de-energize and lock out the circuit before servicing the assembly. The knob is not rated for torque-critical or high-vibration fastening applications where a mechanically retained knob or set-screw style would be more appropriate.
