The GIBRALTAR DKL38-PT-G is a locking knob handle plunger designed for precision indexing, positioning, and holding applications in mechanical assemblies and fabricated fixtures. It features a 3/8-16 threaded body and a Delrin knob that locks the plunger in the retracted position, preventing unintended engagement. The plunger delivers an initial end force of 0.25 pounds and a final end force of 2 pounds, making it well-suited for light-duty clamping and locating tasks. The steel construction with a black finish provides corrosion resistance and durability in shop and industrial environments. Machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians working on jigs, fixtures, and machine enclosures are the typical installers.
This plunger is used in applications where a controlled, lockable positioning element is needed within a threaded boss or panel. It fits residential and commercial fabrication work, tool and die setups, equipment enclosures, and any assembly requiring repeatable plunger engagement. The locking mechanism allows the plunger to be held fully retracted during part loading or removal, reducing wear and simplifying workflow. The compact body length of 0.94 inches makes it suitable for space-constrained installations where a standard spring plunger would not provide enough clearance control.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit component for mechanical assemblies, fixtures, and enclosures that use 3/8-16 threaded spring or locking plungers.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger body into a pre-tapped 3/8-16 hole using a wrench applied to the hex flats on the body. Power down or de-energize any equipment before servicing assemblies that include this component. Do not overtighten the body, as this can distort the thread engagement and affect plunger travel. Verify plunger projection and end force are appropriate for the locating or clamping application before finalizing the installation.
