The GIBRALTAR DCIM16-44 is a medium-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, molds, and precision tooling applications. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, it delivers a spring rate of 175 pounds per inch and a maximum deflection load of 147 pounds. The blue color coding follows standard die spring duty-rating conventions, making it easy to sort and identify in a tool crib or shop floor environment. This spring is sized at 0.625 inches hole diameter, 0.344 inches rod diameter, and 1.75 inches free length. It is typically installed by toolmakers, die setters, and precision machining professionals.
This die spring fits medium-duty stamping and forming die assemblies where controlled, repeatable compression force is required. The 0.840 inches maximum deflection and 147 pound maximum deflection load make it appropriate for moderate-cycle tooling where a balance between load capacity and travel is needed. It conforms to NAAMS and ISO 10243 standards, making it directly interchangeable in metric and North American automotive tooling platforms that specify those standards. Sold individually, it is suited for single-spring replacement or multi-spring die builds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement die spring for stamping dies, forming dies, and mold assemblies conforming to NAAMS or ISO 10243 dimensional standards for medium-duty blue-series springs.
Die springs are typically installed by toolmakers or die maintenance technicians with the press or mold locked out and at zero energy state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. The rod diameter of 0.344 inches and hole diameter of 0.625 inches must be verified against the die pocket and guide rod dimensions before installation. Inspect the spring pocket and guide rod for wear or burrs that could cause uneven loading. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 0.840 inches during setup or operation.
