The GIBRALTAR DCIM16-38 is a medium-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, molds, and industrial tooling applications. It features a trapezoidal wire cross-section wound from chromium alloy steel, which delivers a higher load capacity relative to round-wire springs of the same envelope size. The spring carries a maximum deflection load of 139 pounds and a maximum deflection of 0.7 inches, with a spring rate of 198 pounds per inch. Color-coded blue for quick identification of its medium-duty load class, this spring is intended for installation by tool and die makers, mold builders, and maintenance technicians working on press tooling.
This die spring is suited for use in stamping dies, injection molds, forming tools, and similar industrial press applications where consistent, repeatable spring force is required. The 0.625-inch hole diameter and 11/32-inch (0.3438-inch) rod diameter accommodate standard die post and rod configurations. The 1.5-inch free length and 0.7-inch travel to solid make it appropriate for moderate-stroke tooling setups. It meets NAAMS, ISO 10243, and ISO 9001:2015 standards, making it compatible with metric and North American automotive tooling specifications.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-build die spring conforming to NAAMS and ISO 10243 dimensional standards, fitting tooling designed around a 0.625-inch hole diameter and 11/32-inch rod diameter in medium-duty blue spring applications.
Die springs should be installed by qualified tool and die technicians familiar with press tooling safety procedures. Always de-energize and lock out the press before servicing any die components. Verify that the rod diameter and hole diameter of the tooling match the spring specifications before installation, and confirm that the available travel does not exceed the rated maximum deflection. Do not compress the spring beyond its travel-to-solid length, as doing so will cause permanent set and premature failure.
