The GIBRALTAR DCIL32-114 is a light-duty die spring designed for use in metal stamping dies, press tooling, and industrial machinery applications. It features a 1-1/4 inch hole diameter, a 5/8 inch rod diameter, and a 4-1/2 inch free length. The spring is wound from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire profile, which provides consistent load distribution across the compression cycle. At maximum deflection of 2.96 inches, this spring delivers a maximum load of 507 pounds. The green color coding identifies the light-duty load rating in accordance with industry standard classification. This part is typically installed by tool and die technicians, maintenance machinists, and industrial equipment specialists.
The DCIL32-114 is suited for applications in stamping dies, injection molds, stripper plates, and industrial press tooling where a guided compression spring with defined load and deflection characteristics is required. The trapezoidal wire cross-section allows for higher load capacity within a compact envelope compared to round wire springs of equivalent size, making it a practical choice for tight die space. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both new tooling builds and worn spring replacement in existing assemblies.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-build die spring for industrial stamping, molding, and press tooling applications conforming to NAAMS and ISO 10243 standards for light-duty green-series die springs.
Die springs of this type are installed by qualified tool and die technicians or maintenance personnel. Before servicing any press tooling or die assembly, lock out and tag out all press energy sources per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the rod and bore diameters in the die set for proper clearance before installation; the rod should not contact the inner diameter of the spring during compression. Never compress a die spring beyond its rated maximum deflection, as doing so risks permanent set or catastrophic failure.
