The GIBRALTAR DCIH12.5-38 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and other tooling applications where consistent, high-force compression cycling is required. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire cross-section, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 107 pounds at 0.69 inches of travel. The red color coding indicates heavy-duty duty rating per industry convention, allowing for quick identification during die assembly and maintenance. It is installed by tool and die makers, maintenance technicians, and industrial machine technicians working on metal forming equipment.
This spring is suited for use in stamping dies, progressive dies, and similar tooling setups requiring a compact, high-load spring element. With a 0.5-inch hole diameter and 9/32-inch rod diameter, it fits standard die set guide posts and spring pockets commonly found in light to medium industrial tooling. The 1.5-inch free length makes it appropriate for applications with limited vertical clearance in the die stack. It meets NAAMS, ISO 10243, and ISO 9001:2015 standards, making it compatible with automotive tooling specifications.
Designed as a replacement or new-installation die spring for stamping dies, punch presses, and progressive die tooling applications conforming to NAAMS and ISO 10243 standard spring pocket dimensions with a 0.5-inch hole diameter and 9/32-inch rod diameter.
Installation is typically performed by tool and die makers or industrial maintenance technicians during die build or scheduled tooling maintenance. De-energize and lock out all press energy sources before removing or installing die springs. Ensure the spring pocket depth and guide rod diameter match the spring specifications before seating. Do not exceed the rated maximum deflection of 0.69 inches, as compressing beyond solid height will cause permanent deformation and premature failure.
