The GIBRALTAR DCIB20-76 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and industrial tooling applications. It features a trapezoidal wire cross-section wound from chromium alloy steel, which delivers higher load capacity and longer fatigue life compared to round-wire springs of the same size. The spring carries a maximum deflection load of 440 pounds (1958 N) with a maximum deflection of 0.82 inches. At a free length of 3 inches and a spring rate of 537 pounds per inch, it provides consistent, predictable resistance throughout its travel. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical trades as well as tool-and-die shops install this type of component in dies, fixtures, and automated machinery where reliable return force is required.
This die spring is suited for production stamping and forming tooling in both industrial and light-manufacturing environments. Its 0.75 inch hole diameter and 0.375 inch rod diameter make it compatible with standard die-set configurations that accept this bore and rod combination. The yellow color designation indicates extra heavy-duty load classification under the ISO 10243 and NAAMS color-coding standards, helping technicians quickly identify the correct spring during maintenance or replacement.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for extra heavy-duty die springs with a 0.75 inch hole diameter and 0.375 inch rod diameter in standard tooling die sets conforming to NAAMS or ISO 10243 specifications.
Die spring replacement is performed by toolmakers or qualified mechanical technicians. Always relieve all stored energy and confirm the press or fixture is fully de-energized and locked out before removing or installing springs. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 0.82 inches, as exceeding this value risks permanent set or premature failure. Verify the mating rod diameter and bore dimensions match the spring before installation to prevent lateral loading.
