The GIBRALTAR DCIB16-38 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for high-load tooling and stamping die applications. It features a 0.625-inch hole diameter, an 11/32-inch (0.3438-inch) rod diameter, and a 1.5-inch free length. Built from chromium alloy steel with a trapezoidal wire shape, it delivers a maximum deflection load of 221 pounds and a spring rate of 473 pounds per inch. The yellow color coding indicates extra heavy-duty duty rating per industry-standard classification. This spring is installed and serviced by tool-and-die technicians, press maintenance personnel, and industrial maintenance mechanics working on stamping, injection molding, and die tooling systems.
The DCIB16-38 is suited for use in stamping dies, progressive dies, and similar metal-forming tooling where consistent high spring force and repeatable deflection are required. Its compact free length of 1.5 inches fits space-constrained die cavities. With a maximum deflection of 0.47 inches and a travel-to-solid load of 0.4724 inches, it provides predictable performance under cyclic compression loads. This spring meets NAAMS, ISO 10243, and ISO 9001:2015 standards, making it appropriate for both domestic and international tooling specifications.
Designed as a replacement or new-installation die spring for stamping dies, progressive dies, and similar tooling assemblies requiring a 0.625-inch hole diameter and 11/32-inch rod diameter with a 1.5-inch free length. Conforms to NAAMS and ISO 10243 dimensional standards, enabling drop-in compatibility with tooling designed to those specifications.
Die springs of this type are installed and replaced by tool-and-die technicians and press maintenance personnel. Always de-energize and lock out the press or tooling equipment before removing or installing die springs. Ensure the rod diameter and hole diameter clearances match the die set design before installation. Do not exceed the rated maximum deflection, as operating beyond the travel-to-solid specification will shorten spring life and may cause premature failure.
