The GIBRALTAR DCIB12.5-64 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for high-load stamping, punching, and forming tooling applications. It features a 0.5-inch hole diameter, a 0.281-inch rod diameter, and a 2.5-inch free length. The trapezoidal wire cross-section maximizes load capacity within a compact envelope. Constructed from chromium alloy steel, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 107 pounds at 0.94 inches of travel. It is color-coded yellow to indicate its extra heavy-duty duty rating, allowing for fast visual identification during tool setup and maintenance. Toolmakers, die setters, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This die spring is suited for use in stamping dies, injection molds, and other precision tooling assemblies in both production and job-shop environments. It is rated to NAAMS (North American Automotive Metric Standard) and ISO 10243 International Standard specifications, making it a direct fit in tooling designed to those standards. The spring rate of 114 pounds per inch supports consistent, repeatable force delivery across the deflection range. Applications include stripper plates, lifters, and cam returns in metal stamping dies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement die spring for stamping dies, molds, and precision tooling assemblies built to NAAMS or ISO 10243 specifications with a 0.5-inch hole diameter and 0.281-inch rod diameter.
Die springs should be installed by qualified toolmakers or die setters following established toolroom safety procedures. Ensure the press or machine is fully de-energized and locked out before removing or replacing springs in a die assembly. Never compress a die spring beyond its rated maximum deflection of 0.94 inches, as over-compression accelerates fatigue and may cause premature failure. Inspect mating rod and hole diameters for proper clearance before installation.
