The GIBRALTAR CP-1095 is a conical pin machined from high speed steel with a nitride finish. It is used to locate, align, or retain components in precision fixture, tooling, and workholding applications. The pin measures 0.145 inches in diameter at the shank and 2.5 inches in overall length, with a head diameter of 0.261 inches and a head height of 0.1827 inches. The nitride surface treatment improves hardness and wear resistance. This style of pin is installed and serviced by machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders working in manufacturing and metalworking environments.
Conical pins are commonly used in jigs, fixtures, dies, and precision assemblies where repeatable part location is required. The conical head geometry allows the pin to seat consistently under load and facilitates removal during changeover. This part is suited to applications in both production machining cells and prototype tooling setups where high speed steel provides adequate hardness and toughness for repeated use cycles.
Designed as a standard conical locating pin for use in precision jigs, fixtures, dies, and tooling assemblies requiring a 0.145 inch nominal bore diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolmakers using standard hand press or arbor press equipment. The mating bore should be deburred and cleaned before pin insertion to ensure proper seating and prevent galling of the nitride surface. Always remove residual chips or coolant from the fixture bore before seating the pin. Follow shop safety procedures and use appropriate eye protection when pressing pins into hardened fixture plates.
