The GIBRALTAR BW8654-G is a die mold sprue bushing designed to control the flow of molten material into a mold cavity during injection molding operations. Machined from steel for durability under repeated thermal and pressure cycling, it features a 0.75 inch shank diameter, a 2 inch head diameter, and an overall length of 2.8125 inches. The 0.21875 inch hole diameter and 0.1875 inch cavity depth are sized for precise gate geometry. This component is installed by toolmakers, mold technicians, and die shop professionals maintaining or building injection mold tooling.
The BW8654-G is suited for use in injection mold tooling where a standardized Series U sprue bushing is required. The 1.90625 inch shank length, 0.875 inch head height, and 0.5 inch corner radius conform to Series U dimensional standards, making it a direct fit in mold bases designed around that series. Typical applications include thermoplastic and thermoset injection molds in both production and prototype tooling environments.
Designed as a Series U OEM-style sprue bushing replacement for injection mold bases requiring a 0.75 inch shank diameter and 2 inch head diameter configuration.
Installation is performed by qualified toolmakers or mold technicians. The mold must be fully cooled and all injection molding equipment must be powered down and de-pressurized before removing or installing a sprue bushing. Proper seating against the mold plate should be verified before resuming production. Follow applicable shop safety procedures for hot mold components and press lockout requirements.
