The GIBRALTAR 42743G is a female spherical washer machined from 12L14 case hardened steel with a black oxide finish. Spherical washers are used in pairs with a mating convex washer to accommodate angular misalignment between a fastener and the bearing surface, distributing load evenly and preventing bolt bending under eccentric loading. This female half features a 9/16 inch inside diameter and 1-1/8 inch outside diameter, with a 1-1/2 inch spherical radius and a 1/32 inch chamfer on the bore entry. It is sized for a 7/16 inch nut screw with a 1-1/8 inch nut flange diameter. Installers in structural, mechanical, and industrial maintenance applications rely on this washer to correct for out-of-perpendicular fastener conditions.
This washer is suited for inch-system fastener assemblies where angular misalignment must be compensated at the nut or bolt head seating surface. Common applications include machinery mounts, structural steel connections, conveyor frames, and equipment bases where surface flatness cannot be guaranteed. The black oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance in dry or lightly oiled environments. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces, making it appropriate for both service-call replenishment and small production runs.
Designed for use in inch-system fastener assemblies requiring spherical washer pairs; mates with a corresponding convex male spherical washer in applications calling for a 7/16 inch nut screw with 1-1/8 inch nut flange diameter.
Spherical washers must be installed as a matched concave-convex pair with the spherical faces in full contact. De-energize and lock out any machinery before servicing fastener assemblies. Ensure the mating male washer radius matches the 1-1/2 inch radius of this female half to achieve proper load distribution. Tighten fasteners to the torque specification required by the joint design, following applicable standards for the structure or equipment being serviced.
