The GIBRALTAR 40952G is an unequal double threaded stud designed for fastening applications where two different thread engagement lengths are required on a single fastener. Machined from Grade 5 carbon steel with a black oxide finish, this stud delivers reliable clamping strength with moderate corrosion resistance. It measures 5 inches overall length and conforms to Thread Fit Class 5. The short thread end runs 7/8 inch (1.0000 decimal inch) and the long thread end runs 1-3/4 inches (1.7500 decimal inch), both cut to a 3/4-10 thread size. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and millwrights install this type of hardware in structural, mechanical, and equipment-mounting assemblies.
Unequal double threaded studs like the 40952G are used in general industrial and mechanical applications where a stud must thread into a tapped hole on one end and accept a nut on the opposite end with a different engagement depth. Common scenarios include machinery bases, equipment frames, and structural connections in manufacturing or MRO environments. The unequal thread lengths allow the installer to set permanent engagement on one end while the remaining exposed thread accepts a fastening nut, washer, or coupling.
Designed as a general-purpose unequal double threaded stud for use in any application requiring a 3/4-10 inch-series thread pattern with a 5 inch overall length and separate long and short engagement ends.
Installation is performed by mechanical or maintenance technicians using standard 3/4-10 tapping and threading tools. Thread the short end into the tapped receiving hole to the appropriate engagement depth before securing the mating component on the long end with a nut and washer. Ensure the receiving tapped hole is clean and free of debris before installation. Torque the fastening nut to the value specified in the equipment manufacturer's documentation or the applicable structural standard.
