The GIBRALTAR 40713G is an equal double threaded stud with a 1/2-13 thread size and a 7.5-inch overall length. This stud features a symmetrical thread pattern on both ends, allowing it to be threaded into a tapped hole on one end while accepting a nut or mating component on the other. Constructed from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, it provides solid mechanical strength and moderate corrosion resistance for use in structural and mechanical fastening applications. A flat is included on the stud body for wrench engagement during installation. The material grade 5 construction meets standard requirements for medium-strength fastening in trade and industrial settings.
This stud is suited for general mechanical assembly, equipment mounting, and structural fastening tasks encountered in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general industrial work. Its equal double-thread configuration makes it appropriate for applications where both ends of the stud must carry the same thread engagement load. Thread fit class 50 indicates a standard tolerance class for reliable fit with corresponding 1/2-13 UNC threaded components. Trades workers, millwrights, and maintenance technicians commonly use this type of stud when a through-bolt is not practical.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock fastener compatible with any 1/2-13 UNC threaded application requiring an equal double-end stud configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or trade technician familiar with threaded fastener practices. Shut down and de-energize or de-pressurize any equipment before replacing or installing studs in a live assembly. Use the flat on the stud body with an appropriate wrench to achieve consistent thread engagement without galling. Follow applicable mechanical or structural codes for torque requirements based on the specific application and joint design.
