The GIBRALTAR 40551G is an unequal double threaded stud with a 3/8-16 thread size and a 2-inch overall length. This stud features two threaded ends of different lengths — a long thread of 1 inch and a short thread of 0.63 inches — allowing it to anchor into one component on one end while accepting a nut or mating part on the other. Constructed from Grade 5 carbon steel with a black oxide finish, it provides reliable tensile strength and moderate corrosion resistance in dry or low-moisture environments. Licensed tradespeople and maintenance mechanics use this fastener in mechanical assemblies, equipment mounting, and structural connections.
This threaded stud is suited for general industrial and mechanical applications where a fixed anchor point is required on one side and a removable connection on the other. Typical uses include equipment frames, bracket mounting, and sub-assembly fastening in HVAC equipment, electrical enclosures, and industrial machinery. The unequal thread length design allows the long end to be fully threaded into a tapped hole or coupling nut, leaving the short end exposed for a securing nut or component attachment.
Designed as a standard 3/8-16 UNC double-end stud for use in any tapped hole or coupling nut accepting a 3/8-16 thread. Consult assembly drawings or equipment specifications to confirm thread depth and engagement length requirements before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or tradesperson familiar with fastener torque and thread engagement requirements. De-energize and lock out any equipment before installing or removing studs in live assemblies. Thread the long end fully into the tapped hole to the appropriate engagement depth before seating mating components on the short end. Avoid over-torquing on the short thread end, as reduced thread engagement decreases load capacity.
