The GIBRALTAR 34158 is a non-locking knob handle plunger with a knobless threaded stud design, used in indexing, positioning, and clamping applications across industrial and mechanical assemblies. Built from steel with a zinc-plated finish for corrosion resistance, it features a 3/8-16 thread size and delivers an initial end force of 0.75 pounds ramping to a final end force of 4 pounds. The maximum plunger diameter is 0.186 inches with a plunger projection of 0.219 inches and an overall plunger length of 1.691 inches. The locking element is present in the body. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers install this type of plunger in jigs, fixtures, and equipment panels where repeatable positioning is required.
The GIBRALTAR 34158 suits light-duty industrial fixture and machine assembly applications. The 3/4-inch thread length and 3/8-16 thread size make it compatible with standard tapped holes in steel and aluminum panels. The knobless threaded stud configuration allows installation flush to a surface or inside a recess where an exposed knob is not practical. The stud thread size of 5/16-18 provides the retention interface. Typical installations include production fixtures, tooling plates, enclosure panels, and equipment frames in manufacturing and maintenance environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit component for industrial fixtures, tooling plates, and mechanical assemblies requiring a 3/8-16 non-locking threaded stud plunger with a knobless configuration.
Installation is performed by maintenance technicians or mechanical assemblers using standard hand tools. Verify the mating tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading the stud into place. Do not overtighten, as this can deform the plunger housing or damage the thread engagement. Confirm plunger projection clearance within the assembly before final installation to ensure proper spring travel and force engagement.
