The GIBRALTAR 33817G is a manual edge clamp designed for workholding applications in machining, fabrication, and tooling setups. It features a low grip nose profile that allows clamping close to workpiece edges, making it well suited for fixtures and jigs where clearance is limited. The clamp body is constructed from steel with a black oxide finish for corrosion resistance. Overall assembled length is 1.875 inches with an overall width of 1 inch. Clamp height is 0.625 inches, travel is 0.25 inches, and the socket cap screw slot accepts a 0.3125-inch fastener. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders are the primary installers of this component.
The 33817G is used in manual workholding fixtures on milling machines, drill presses, and fabrication tables in both production and job-shop environments. Its compact footprint and low-profile grip nose make it effective where standard toggle or strap clamps cannot fit. The edge-clamping design applies direct lateral force at the workpiece perimeter, keeping the clamping area clear of the tool path. This clamp is sold individually and is appropriate for custom fixture plates, modular tooling systems, and benchtop jig assemblies.
Designed as a manual edge clamp for use in standard workholding fixtures, modular tooling systems, and custom jig plates that accept socket cap screw-actuated clamp components.
Installation is performed by machinists or fixture builders as part of a workholding or tooling assembly. Secure the clamp to the fixture plate using an appropriately sized socket cap screw through the designated slot, and confirm full thread engagement before applying clamping force. Verify that the workpiece is fully seated and supported before tightening. Always de-energize or lock out any connected machine before adjusting or repositioning clamps on an active fixture.
