The GIBRALTAR 26720 5 is a fixed lifting eye bolt designed for use in rigging, hoisting, and load-securing applications where a reliable overhead anchor point is required. Built from C-1035 grade steel with a zinc-plated finish for corrosion resistance, this eye bolt carries a rated lifting capacity of 900 lb. The shank is fully threaded at 5/16-18 thread size over a 2-inch thread length, allowing secure engagement into tapped holes or through-bolted assemblies. This shoulder-less design is intended for inline vertical loads only. Riggers, millwrights, maintenance mechanics, and contractors typically install this hardware in production facilities, job sites, and mechanical rooms.
This eye bolt suits light-to-medium rigging tasks in residential construction, commercial mechanical installations, and industrial maintenance settings. The fully threaded 2-inch shank threads directly into a compatible tapped hole or fastens with a nut on the back side of a plate or beam. It is well suited for hanging chain hoists, attaching lifting slings, or anchoring guide wires where a fixed-loop anchor point is needed. Always verify that the mounting substrate is rated to handle the applied load before use.
Designed as an OEM-style fixed lifting eye bolt for use in standard 5/16-18 tapped holes or with matching hex nuts in through-bolt configurations across general rigging and load-hanging applications.
Installation is typically performed by qualified riggers, millwrights, or maintenance mechanics following applicable ASME B30.26 rigging hardware guidelines. Thread the eye bolt fully into a properly tapped hole or secure with a nut torqued against the mounting surface to ensure full thread engagement before applying any load. Because this is a shoulderless fixed eye bolt, it must only be loaded in a straight vertical inline direction — angular loading will reduce capacity and may cause failure. Inspect the eye and threads for damage before each use and remove from service if any deformation, cracking, or corrosion is observed.
