The GIBRALTAR 10621 is a press fit ball plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The steel body measures 0.125 inches in diameter and 0.284 inches in length, pressing directly into a drilled hole without threads or additional hardware. The Delrin ball provides a smooth, low-friction contact point with a maximum ball reach of 0.035 inches. Initial end force is 0.5 lb and final end force is 1 lb, making this plunger suited for light-load retention and part registration tasks. The black finish adds corrosion resistance. Machinists, tool and die makers, and assembly technicians install this type of component during fixture and jig construction.
This ball plunger is used in precision fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and light mechanical assemblies where a compact, flush-mount detent or positioning element is required. The press fit installation method suits close-tolerance bores where a clean, unthreaded mounting is preferred. Typical applications include panel positioning, drawer retention, and component indexing in both manual and automated assembly environments. The Delrin ball material is well suited for contact with softer workpiece surfaces where marring must be avoided.
Designed as a standard press fit ball plunger for use in close-tolerance drilled bores in fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and light mechanical assemblies requiring a 0.125-inch diameter press fit detent element.
Installation is performed by pressing the plunger body into a precision-drilled bore sized to the body diameter using an arbor press or hand press. Ensure the bore is clean and free of burrs before installation. Do not hammer the plunger directly, as this can damage the ball or deform the body. Verify bore depth matches the body length to achieve correct ball protrusion and operating force.
