The George Risk Industries 6644T is a dual-value resistor used in supervised security contact circuits. It provides a 2,000-ohm (2K) resistance value in the open state and a 1,000-ohm (1K) resistance value in the closed state. This type of end-of-line or in-line resistor is a standard component in alarm panel wiring where supervisory resistance is required to distinguish between normal, alarm, and trouble conditions on a zone loop. Installation is typically performed by alarm technicians and low-voltage security contractors.
The 6644T is intended for use in supervised zone wiring on residential and commercial security and fire alarm systems. It is suited for applications where the control panel requires specific resistance values to monitor circuit integrity. This component is installed by licensed low-voltage or alarm technicians in accordance with NFPA 72 and local authority having jurisdiction requirements. De-energize the alarm panel zone before wiring the resistor into the loop. The resistor must be placed correctly in series or at the end of line per the panel manufacturer wiring diagram to ensure proper supervisory function. Do not substitute resistor values without verifying compatibility with the specific control panel zone requirements.
