The George Risk Industries 4402AB is a surface-mount, biased high-security magnetic contact designed for alarm and access control applications. The aluminum construction provides durability in demanding installation environments. The biased design adds an additional magnetic field layer that resists simple magnet substitution attempts, making it suitable for high-security door and window monitoring. Licensed security and alarm technicians are the primary installers of this type of contact.
The 4402AB is used in residential and commercial security systems where standard magnetic contacts do not meet the required tamper-resistance level. It mounts directly to the surface of a door or window frame without requiring a routed channel, which simplifies installation on metal or wood framing. It is sold as a single unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for surface-mount biased magnetic contact positions in commercial and residential security and access control systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed alarm or low-voltage technician in accordance with applicable local codes and NFPA 731 guidelines. Power down the alarm panel or isolate the zone before wiring the contact. Mount the contact and magnet to the stationary frame and moving door or window leaf respectively, ensuring the gap between components does not exceed the rated actuation distance. Do not substitute standard reed-switch contacts in positions specified for biased high-security contacts, as this will defeat the tamper-resistance feature.
