The GEORG FISCHER 861-297 is a Schedule 80 PVC threaded nipple rated for 210 PSI at 73 degrees F. Sized at 2.5 inches by 6 inches with male pipe thread (MPT) on both ends, this fitting provides a rigid, pressure-rated connection in industrial and commercial plumbing systems. The Schedule 80 wall thickness gives it greater strength and chemical resistance compared to standard Schedule 40 fittings. At 0.75 pounds, it is lightweight enough for overhead or confined-space runs. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple where a short, double-male threaded extension is needed between fittings, valves, or equipment ports.
This nipple is suited for use in chemical processing lines, water treatment systems, irrigation headers, and industrial fluid-transfer applications where PVC construction is specified. The MPT x MPT configuration allows direct connection to female-threaded valves, couplings, and flanges. Its 210 PSI pressure rating at 73 degrees F makes it appropriate for moderate-pressure service lines in both above-ground and in-wall installations where PVC is code-permissible.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Depressurize and drain the system fully before removing any existing fittings. Apply PTFE thread tape or an approved thread sealant compound to male threads before making up the joint — do not use solvent-based pipe dope formulations that are incompatible with PVC. Hand-tighten first, then use a strap wrench to avoid cracking the PVC body from over-torquing.
