The GENESIS CABLE 45141004 is a 14 AWG, 4-conductor solid-conductor fire alarm cable with a plenum-rated FPLP jacket, supplied on a 1,000-foot reel in red. FPLP (Fire Power Limited Plenum) designates this cable for use in air-handling spaces where building codes require low-smoke, plenum-rated materials. The solid conductor construction maintains stable resistance over long circuit runs, making it well suited for supervised initiating device circuits and notification appliance circuits in commercial fire alarm systems. Installation is performed by licensed fire alarm technicians or licensed electricians working under NFPA 72 and applicable local codes.
This cable is used in commercial and institutional fire alarm installations where plenum-rated wiring is required by the International Building Code or local authority having jurisdiction. Typical applications include ceiling plenum spaces, air-handling return areas, and other environmental air spaces in office buildings, schools, hospitals, and similar occupancies. The red jacket provides visual identification consistent with fire alarm wiring conventions. The 1,000-foot reel quantity suits medium to large installation projects where continuous runs reduce splice points and improve circuit integrity.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard installation cable for commercial fire alarm systems requiring 14 AWG 4-conductor plenum-rated unshielded solid wiring per NFPA 72 circuit requirements.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or NICET-certified fire alarm technician in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC Article 760), and local authority having jurisdiction requirements. De-energize the fire alarm control panel and follow lockout-tagout procedures before terminating or splicing conductors. Do not bend the cable below its minimum bend radius or over-cinch cable ties, as either can deform solid conductors and increase circuit resistance. Plenum-rated cable must be installed only in listed plenum spaces and must not be substituted for riser or general-purpose cable classifications.
