The GENESIS CABLE 45081004 is an 18 AWG, 6-conductor solid unshielded fire alarm cable rated FPLP (Fire Power Limited Plenum), supplied on a 1000-foot roll in red jacket. FPLP-rated cable meets the plenum-space requirements of NFPA 72 and the National Electrical Code, making it suitable for installation in air-handling ceilings, raised floors, and other plenum return-air spaces without conduit in most jurisdictions. Solid conductors at 18 AWG deliver low-resistance signal paths suited for initiating device circuits, notification appliance circuits, and control wiring in addressable and conventional fire alarm systems. Licensed low-voltage or fire alarm contractors are the typical installing trade.
This cable is used in commercial and residential fire alarm system installations where plenum-rated wiring is required by the authority having jurisdiction. It is appropriate for runs between fire alarm control panels, pull stations, smoke detectors, horn-strobe devices, and other 18 AWG compatible initiating or notification circuits. The red jacket provides visual identification in the field consistent with standard fire alarm wiring conventions. The 1000-foot roll quantity is suited for new construction rough-in and larger retrofit projects requiring unshielded, solid-conductor plenum cable.
Designed as an FPLP-rated unshielded solid fire alarm cable compatible with 18 AWG initiating device circuits and notification appliance circuits in conventional and addressable fire alarm control panels requiring plenum-rated wiring.
Installation must be performed by a licensed low-voltage or fire alarm contractor in accordance with NFPA 72, NEC Article 760, and any requirements set by the local authority having jurisdiction. De-energize the fire alarm control panel and follow lockout procedures before making connections. Verify plenum rating is required and accepted by the AHJ before substituting this cable in non-plenum pathways. Avoid sharp bends, staple-through fasteners, or pull tensions that could damage the conductor insulation during rough-in.
