The GENESIS CABLE 45065504 is an 18 AWG 2-conductor solid-conductor FPLP-rated fire alarm cable with a red jacket, supplied in a 500-foot box. FPLP designates a plenum-rated fire protective signaling cable, meaning the jacket compound meets the smoke and flame spread requirements of NFPA 72 and NEC Article 760 for installation in air-handling plenum spaces. The solid conductor construction is standard for low-current fire alarm signaling circuits where flexibility is not a primary concern. This cable is used by licensed fire alarm technicians and low-voltage electricians installing initiating device circuits and notification circuits in commercial and residential fire alarm systems.
This cable is suited for unshielded fire alarm signaling applications in plenum ceilings, air ducts, and other environmental air spaces where a CL2P or FPLP listing is required by the authority having jurisdiction. Typical installations include pulling from the 500-foot box reel to connect smoke detectors, pull stations, and other initiating devices back to a fire alarm control panel. The red jacket color is the industry convention for fire alarm wiring, aiding circuit identification during inspection and service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock fire alarm cable for unshielded solid-conductor FPLP signaling circuit applications in commercial and residential fire alarm systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed low-voltage electrician or fire alarm technician in accordance with NFPA 72, NEC Article 760, and all applicable local codes. De-energize the fire alarm control panel and follow the panel manufacturer lockout procedures before making conductor terminations. Plenum-rated cable must be used wherever wiring passes through environmental air spaces as defined by the AHJ. Avoid sharp bends, stapling through the jacket, or bundling in a manner that exceeds the cable's rated fill capacity in conduit or cable trays.
