Genesis Cable 22215509 16/2 Stranded Cmr Security Cable Gray

Product Description

The GENESIS CABLE 22215509 is a 16 AWG 2-conductor stranded CMR-rated security cable supplied in a gray jacket and packaged in a pull box. CMR (Communications Multipurpose Cable, Riser) rating makes this wire suitable for vertical runs between floors in commercial and residential structures where fire code requires riser-rated cable. The stranded conductor construction improves flexibility during pulls through conduit or raceway, reducing the risk of conductor fatigue in installations that require bending or routing around obstacles. Security and low-voltage alarm installers rely on this gauge and conductor count for a wide range of detection and control wiring applications.

This cable is used in commercial and residential security system installations, including alarm panels, door and window contact wiring, motion detector loops, and similar low-voltage signal circuits. The CMR riser rating allows installation in open-air vertical shaft runs without conduit where locally adopted building codes permit riser-rated cable. It is sized for low-current signal circuits typical in intrusion detection and access control wiring.

Key Features

• 16 AWG stranded conductors for improved flexibility during installation pulls
• CMR riser rating meets fire code requirements for vertical in-building runs
• 2-conductor configuration suits point-to-point security signal and control wiring
• Gray jacket for standard security cable identification
• Pull-box packaging reduces kinking and tangles during installation

Compatibility

Designed as a general-purpose 16 AWG 2-conductor CMR security cable suitable for low-voltage alarm, intrusion detection, and access control signal wiring in residential and commercial installations.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or alarm contractor in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) Article 800 and applicable local codes governing CMR-rated cable. De-energize the alarm panel and associated circuits before terminating conductors. Avoid routing alongside high-voltage wiring without appropriate separation as required by code. Do not exceed the cable bend radius during pulls to protect stranded conductors and jacket integrity.
