The GATEWAY SAFETY 36u50 is a fixed-front welding goggle designed to fit tight to the face, blocking sparks and spatter from reaching the eyes. The frame is molded from high density polyethylene and features a double-walled eyecup construction that improves the seal against the face. The lens is a polycarbonate Shade 5.0 (W5) filter sized at 2 inches x 2 inches, appropriate for light-duty gas welding, cutting, and torch brazing operations. The over-the-glass frame style accommodates most prescription eyewear underneath. This goggle meets ANSI Z87.1+ and CSA Z94.3 standards and is manufactured in the USA.
These goggles are used in welding, cutting, and brazing applications where a low-to-medium intensity heat source is involved. The Shade 5.0 lens designation is suited for gas welding and torch work rather than arc welding, which requires a darker shade. The fixed-front design keeps the lens locked in position, eliminating the lift-front mechanism and reducing the risk of accidental exposure. Welders, pipefitters, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and maintenance professionals who perform torch work on copper, steel, or other metals are the primary users of this goggle.
Designed as a fixed-front over-the-glass welding goggle for light-duty torch welding, cutting, and brazing tasks where a Shade 5.0 (W5) lens is required per applicable safety standards.
Inspect the goggle for lens cracks, frame damage, or a compromised face seal before each use. Always verify that the shade designation matches the intensity of the welding or torch operation being performed — Shade 5.0 is not appropriate for arc welding applications. Replace the goggle if the lens shows pitting, scratches, or discoloration that reduces optical clarity. Follow ANSI Z87.1+ and applicable workplace safety regulations when selecting and using eye protection.
