The GARDNER BENDER GSW-33 is a single-pole single-throw (SPST) pull chain switch designed for 2-speed ceiling fan control. It operates in an Off/On/On switching sequence, giving the installer clean control over two fan speeds with one pull chain. The switch accepts 18-gauge soldered stranded wire or solid wire through three stab-type wiring slots, making termination straightforward in the field. Electrical ratings are 3 amps at 250 volts AC and 6 amps at 125 volts AC. A 72-inch white cotton pull cord is included for attachment to the switch pull chain. The GSW-33 is UL listed.
This switch is used as a replacement or new-installation pull chain speed control in residential ceiling fans. It suits standard fan housings where a compact SPST switch fits the existing switch cavity. Electricians and ceiling fan installers use this part during fan repair, speed-control restoration, or new fan wiring. The included 72-inch cord eliminates the need to source a separate pull cord for most standard ceiling fan heights.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement pull chain switch for residential ceiling fans requiring a 2-speed SPST switching configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or experienced ceiling fan installer. Always shut off power at the circuit breaker before opening the fan housing or handling any wiring. Connections are made via stab-type slots — ensure wire gauge matches the 18-gauge specification before terminating. Work performed in the United States should comply with applicable NEC requirements for fan and lighting outlet wiring.
