The G E LIGHTING 64818 is a fluorescent starter designed to initiate the arc in preheat-type fluorescent lamp circuits. Sold as a 2-pack under the FS-2-C/TP designation, this starter is compatible with 14-watt, 15-watt, and 20-watt fluorescent lamps. The starter functions by briefly heating the lamp cathodes at switch-on, allowing the arc discharge to establish and the lamp to reach full output. Electricians and lighting maintenance techs install these as routine lamp-circuit service parts in commercial and residential fixtures equipped with preheat ballasts.
This starter is suited for preheat fluorescent fixtures commonly found in older commercial interiors, storage areas, workshops, and utility spaces. It is a drop-in service replacement for fixtures that already use an FS-2 style starter socket. The 2-pack format is practical for service calls where multiple fixtures may need attention in a single visit.
Designed for use with 14-watt, 15-watt, and 20-watt preheat-type fluorescent lamps in fixtures using a standard FS-2 starter socket.
Installation is performed by a qualified electrician or lighting technician. De-energize the fixture at the circuit breaker before servicing. Twist the existing starter counterclockwise to remove it from the socket, then insert the replacement and rotate clockwise until seated. Confirm the lamp type matches the starter rating before powering the circuit back on.
