The G E LIGHTING 23954 is a high-efficiency electronic instant-start ballast designed to drive one or two fluorescent lamps in commercial and industrial lighting applications. Compatible with F96T8, F96T8WM, F72T8, and F40T8 lamp types, this ballast operates across a wide multi-volt input range of 120 to 277 volts, making it suitable for a broad range of electrical service configurations. With a normal power factor between .87 and .98, it delivers strong efficiency performance in energy-conscious installations. Licensed electricians and lighting maintenance technicians are the primary installers. The unit measures 9.5 inches long by 1.7 inches wide by 1.2 inches tall and weighs 5.76 pounds.
This ballast is well suited for linear fluorescent fixture retrofits and replacements in commercial offices, warehouses, schools, and institutional facilities. Its instant-start circuit eliminates the warm-up delay associated with older magnetic ballast technology. The rated starting temperature of -20 degrees F makes it appropriate for cold-storage areas, parking structures, and unheated utility spaces where low ambient temperatures are a factor during startup. The multi-volt design reduces the need to stock multiple ballast SKUs for facilities with mixed 120-volt and 277-volt circuits.
Compatible with F96T8, F96T8WM, F72T8, and F40T8 fluorescent lamps in 1-lamp or 2-lamp configurations. Also referenced under part number GE259MAX-N-DIY.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements and local electrical codes. Disconnect and lock out power to the fixture at the circuit breaker before removing the existing ballast or making any wiring connections. Verify that the supply voltage matches the ballast input range before energizing. Do not exceed the maximum lamp count or substitute lamp types not listed on the ballast label.
