The FREUD DIB1070 is an 18-inch installer drill bit with a 3/8-inch diameter, designed for running cables and wires through wood framing and stacked lumber. The ultra-sharp tip bores fast, straight holes while the black oxide coated flutes clear chips efficiently to keep the bit moving without clogging. A small feed hole in the flute lets the installer pull wire or cable back through the hole immediately after drilling, eliminating a separate fish-tape step. The 3-flat shank locks securely in the drill chuck and prevents spinning under load.
This bit is built for electricians, low-voltage technicians, and data or security installers who need to run wire through wall plates, floor joists, and stacked lumber in residential and light commercial construction. The 18-inch length provides enough reach to penetrate doubled headers and deep framing members without repositioning. The bit is sold in a package of 3 units, making it practical for high-volume rough-in work where bit life matters.
Designed as an OEM-style installer bit for use with standard 3/8-inch keyed or keyless drill chucks in residential and light commercial wire installation applications.
Electricians and low-voltage installers should confirm the drill chuck accepts a 3-flat shank before use. Always verify that no existing wiring, plumbing, or structural members are present in the drill path before boring. Work in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for wire protection and clearance through framing. Allow the bit flutes to clear chips freely by withdrawing the bit periodically on deep passes through dense or wet lumber.
