The FOWLER 54-860-241-0 is a mechanical blade micrometer designed for measuring narrow grooves, keyways, and other tight-clearance features that a standard anvil micrometer cannot reach. It measures up to 25 mm with an accuracy of 0.000160 inches and a graduation of 0.0005 inches, making it suitable for precision work in tool rooms, machine shops, and production environments. The friction thimble provides consistent measuring force to prevent over-tightening and protect measurement integrity. A large, easy-to-read LCD display with a digital counter is built in, and the unit supports data output for integration with SPC or measurement collection systems. Rated IP54, it resists dust ingress and splash exposure typical of shop environments. Licensed metrology technicians, machinists, and quality inspectors are the primary users.
This blade micrometer is built for applications where conventional micrometers cannot access the measurement zone. The thin blade profile - 0.0300 inches thick and 0.3150 inches deep - allows it to reach into slots, undercuts, recessed grooves, and similar confined features on machined components. It is suited for both job-shop and production-line inspection tasks in mechanical, aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing settings. The mechanical operation with digital readout makes it usable without batteries in the mechanical mode while still supporting electronic data capture when data output is active.
Designed as an OEM-style precision measuring instrument suitable for general metrology applications requiring blade-style anvil access up to a 25 mm measurement range.
This instrument requires no installation but should be handled and stored per standard metrology practices. Before use, clean the blade faces and verify the zero reading with the unit fully closed. Calibration should be performed at regular intervals by a qualified metrologist in accordance with applicable quality system requirements such as ISO 10012 or equivalent. Do not submerge the unit; IP54 covers dust and splash resistance only.
