The FOWLER 52-562-100-0 is a 12-piece horizontal-style dial test indicator kit designed for precise surface, runout, and alignment measurements in machine shop and metrology applications. The indicator delivers a measuring range of 0.06 inches with a dial graduation of 0.0005 inches and an accuracy of 0.0004 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance inspection work. The 1.5-inch white dial reads 0-15-0 and features a tilted face for easy viewing at the workpiece. A jeweled movement and shop-hardened case protect the instrument in production environments. Machinists, toolmakers, and quality-control technicians are the primary users of this kit.
This kit is suited for horizontal indicator setups on surface plates, height gages, and machine tool fixtures. The 210-degree swivel arc and automatic reversal mechanism allow the contact point to approach the workpiece from multiple angles without resetting. The included height gage bar with clamp expands setup options for vertical measurement runs. The axial support accessory stabilizes the indicator shank during extended use. The full accessory set makes this kit a self-contained solution for incoming inspection, in-process gauging, and machine alignment tasks in both job-shop and production settings.
Designed as an OEM-style horizontal dial test indicator for use with standard dovetail-mount indicator holders, height gages, and magnetic-base setups common in machine shop and metrology environments.
Mounting and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or metrology technician familiar with indicator holder systems and surface-plate procedures. Secure the dovetail stem in the holder before bringing the contact point into contact with the workpiece to prevent tip damage. Avoid side-loading the contact tip beyond the specified swivel range, as this can affect accuracy and damage the jeweled movement. Follow shop calibration intervals and handle the instrument carefully to maintain measurement traceability.
