The FOWLER 52-562-002-0 is a horizontal-style dial test indicator designed for precision measurement in machining, inspection, and metrology applications. It features a jeweled movement with a 0.06 inch total range per revolution and a 0.0005 inch graduation, allowing for highly repeatable readings on a 0-15-0 bidirectional dial. Accuracy is rated at 0.0004 inches in the inner range and 0.0012 inches in the outer range. The unit ships with a NIST Certificate of Calibration, making it suitable for documented quality-control work. The 1 inch white dial provides clear readability in shop environments. Machinists, toolmakers, and QC inspectors are the primary users of this instrument.
This indicator is used in horizontal contact applications where a compact, low-profile gauge is needed to measure runout, surface variation, part alignment, or machine travel. The automatic reversal feature and integrated revolution counter extend its usefulness across a range of setups, including surface plates, mag-base arms, and comparator stands. Two contact points are included, with a swivel angle of 210 degrees for flexible positioning. The 0.625 inch contact point length and 0.08 inch ball diameter are suited to typical workpiece surface contact in production and inspection settings.
Designed for use with standard dial indicator holders, mag-base arms, comparator stands, and other tooling that accepts horizontal-style test indicators with a Series X body configuration.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists, metrologists, or trained inspection personnel familiar with dial indicator setups. Secure the indicator body in a compatible holder before applying contact to the workpiece to avoid overloading the stylus. Do not exceed the rated measuring range, as forcing the contact point beyond travel limits can damage the jeweled movement. Store the indicator in its case when not in use to protect the contact tip and calibration integrity.
