The FOWLER 52-225-112-0 is a mechanical depth micrometer designed for precise depth measurement in machining, toolmaking, and metrology applications. It covers a full 6-inch measurement range using a set of six interchangeable rods, each with a 3/16-inch (0.1719-inch decimal) diameter. The instrument reads to a graduation of 0.001 inches with an accuracy of 0.0002 inches. A ratchet stop thimble delivers consistent measuring pressure across readings, reducing operator-to-operator variation. The 2.5-inch base is hardened and ground for flat, stable contact against the workpiece surface. Finished in satin chrome to minimize glare, this micrometer is suited for use in shop-floor and inspection environments.
This depth micrometer is used wherever accurate depth readings are required: measuring slot depths, counterbore depths, step heights, and shoulder dimensions on machined parts. The six-rod set allows coverage from zero to 6 inches without switching instruments. It is commonly used by machinists, tool and die makers, quality control technicians, and precision measurement professionals working in manufacturing, job shops, and inspection departments. The included case keeps the rods and base organized and protected when not in use.
Designed as a standard mechanical depth micrometer for general-purpose precision measurement; compatible with any application requiring depth readings up to 6 inches using 3/16-inch diameter rods.
Depth micrometers are installed by metrology and quality control personnel and do not require power or mechanical fastening. Before use, verify the base and rod contact surfaces are clean and free of chips or burrs that could affect zero calibration. Set and verify zero with all rods seated fully before taking measurements. Store rods in the provided case to prevent damage to the ground surfaces.
