The FORNEY INDUSTRIES INC 40202 is an E6013 classification mild steel welding electrode available in 5/64-inch diameter, sold by the pound. This general-purpose stick electrode is designed for all-position welding and delivers medium to shallow penetration, making it well suited to applications where heat input must be kept low. The medium to heavy slag it produces is easily removed, leaving a clean, visually consistent bead. It is used primarily by welders working on sheet metal fabrication, light structural work, ductwork, and similar light-gauge steel applications where good arc control and bead appearance are the priority.
This electrode is a practical choice for both shop and field work on mild steel. Its all-position rating means it performs in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead orientations. Because penetration is intentionally moderate, it excels on thin base metals and on joints that are poorly fitted or have gaps that a deeper-penetrating rod would blow through. Typical applications include sheet metal, HVAC ductwork, light fabrication, and general repair work on mild steel assemblies.
Designed for use on all types of mild steel where ease of operation and good weld appearance are required, including light-gauge metal, sheet metal, and ductwork.
This electrode is installed and used by qualified welders or welding professionals following applicable AWS and local safety standards. Before welding, ensure the work area is clear of flammable materials and that proper ventilation is in place. Select amperage within the range appropriate for the 5/64-inch diameter as specified on the electrode packaging or the manufacturer data sheet. Store unused electrodes in a dry environment to prevent moisture absorption, which can degrade arc performance.
