The FORNEY 32001 is a mild steel iron powder-type welding electrode classified AWS E7014, designed for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) applications. Measuring 3/32 inches in diameter and 14 inches in length, it delivers a smooth arc with good arc stability, medium to shallow penetration, and low spatter. The iron powder flux coating produces a clean bead appearance with minimal cleanup. This electrode is suited for welders and fabricators who need consistent, forgiving performance across a range of base metal conditions. It carries a tensile strength rating of 70,000 psi and accepts AC, DCEP, or DCEN polarity, making it compatible with most shop and field welding machines.
This electrode is well suited for sheet metal work, ornamental iron fabrication, and situations involving poorly fitted or gapped joints where ease of operation matters. The forgiving arc characteristics make it a practical choice for both experienced welders and those newer to stick welding. It performs on light structural and decorative steel components in residential, light commercial, and shop fabrication environments. Sold individually in a 1-pound box, it fits applications where a clean weld appearance is a priority alongside adequate mechanical strength.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement-grade stick electrode for use in standard SMAW electrode holders accepting 3/32-inch diameter rods.
Installation and use of this electrode should be performed by a qualified welder or certified welding professional following applicable AWS and workplace safety standards. Always inspect electrode storage conditions - E7014 electrodes should be kept dry to maintain flux integrity. Ensure the welding machine is powered off and leads are disconnected before changing electrodes. Use appropriate PPE including an auto-darkening or rated welding helmet, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing during all welding operations.
