The FORD METER BOX insert-52 is a stainless steel tubing insert designed for use with PET (polyethylene terephthalate) fittings and compression-style connections. With a 1 inch inner diameter and compatibility with tubing having a 0.875 inch inner diameter, this insert provides internal support at the fitting connection point to prevent tubing collapse under compression load. It is installed by plumbers and water service technicians working on potable water distribution and metering systems.
This insert is suited for residential and light commercial water service applications where PET or PBT tubing is connected to meter setters, service saddles, or compression fittings. The IDR-9 PET and IDR-9 PBT tubing classifications indicate standard dimension ratio tubing commonly found in water service and meter installation work. The insert seats inside the tubing end to maintain bore geometry during fitting makeup.
Designed for use with IDR-9 PET and IDR-9 PBT tubing with a 0.875 inch inner diameter, as used in water service meter installations and compression-style fittings.
Tubing inserts are installed by licensed plumbers or water service technicians during compression fitting assembly on polyethylene or PBT service lines. Shut off and depressurize the water service before cutting tubing or disassembling fittings. Press the insert fully into the tubing bore before seating the tubing into the compression fitting body. Follow local plumbing codes and utility requirements for water meter service connections.
