The FLUKE FLUKE-1550C is a high-range insulation resistance tester, also known as a megohmmeter, designed for testing the integrity of electrical insulation in motors, cables, transformers, and other high-voltage equipment. It delivers a maximum test voltage of 5,000 VDC and measures insulation resistance up to 2,000,000 megohms, making it suitable for demanding diagnostic work. The unit features a digital LCD display for clear readings and is powered by a 12-volt lead-acid battery, providing portable field operation. It carries a CAT III safety rating. Licensed electricians and electrical testing technicians are the primary users of this instrument.
The FLUKE-1550C is well suited for both commercial and industrial electrical maintenance applications, including insulation testing of medium-voltage cables, large motor windings, switchgear, and transformers. It is used during commissioning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to identify degraded insulation before failures occur. The instrument ships as a complete kit, including AC power cord, alligator clips, carrying case, FlukeView Forms software, infrared adapter, interface cable, quick reference guide, test leads, and user manual, allowing immediate field deployment.
Designed for use in CAT III electrical environments for insulation testing of motors, cables, transformers, and switchgear in commercial and industrial applications.
This instrument is intended for use by qualified electricians and electrical testing professionals familiar with high-voltage test procedures. Always de-energize, isolate, lock out, and verify that the circuit under test is completely de-energized before connecting test leads. Discharge capacitive equipment fully before and after applying test voltage. Follow applicable NFPA 70E arc flash and electrical safety requirements when working near energized equipment.
