The FLUKE FLUKE- 1503 is a handheld insulation resistance tester, also called a megohmmeter, designed for testing the integrity of electrical insulation in motors, cables, transformers, and wiring systems. It delivers up to 1000 VDC test voltage and measures insulation resistance up to 2000 megohms with an accuracy of plus or minus 1.5 percent plus 3 digits. The backlit LCD makes readings easy to see in low-light environments such as electrical panels, mechanical rooms, and field service locations. Licensed electricians and electrical technicians are the primary users. The unit runs on AA batteries, making it fully portable for service calls and commissioning work.
The FLUKE- 1503 is suited for residential and commercial electrical maintenance, including insulation spot testing on motor windings, feeder cables, and branch circuit wiring. It is commonly used during preventive maintenance inspections, troubleshooting insulation degradation, and pre-energization checks on newly installed equipment. The tester ships with alligator clips, a holster, a remote probe, test leads, test probes, and a user manual, making it ready to use out of the box.
Designed for general electrical insulation testing applications including motors, cables, transformers, and wiring where a high-voltage DC resistance measurement is required.
Insulation resistance testing should be performed only by qualified electricians or instrumentation technicians familiar with high-voltage test procedures. Always de-energize and isolate the circuit or equipment under test before connecting the tester, and verify there is no stored charge on capacitive loads before touching test leads. Follow applicable NEC guidelines and equipment manufacturer lockout/tagout procedures during testing. Do not exceed the rated test voltage of the equipment being evaluated.
