The FERNCO INC P3000-44 is a shielded specialty coupling designed to create a leak-resistant transition between 4-inch cast iron pipe and 4-inch plastic, steel, or extra heavy cast iron pipe. The stainless steel shield and band clamp system compresses a flexible elastomeric sleeve against both pipe ends, forming a secure, no-hub style mechanical joint. This coupling is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters during drain, waste, and vent (DWV) system repairs or new construction where dissimilar pipe materials must be joined without solvent welding or lead-and-oakum work.

This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where an existing cast iron DWV system is being repaired or extended using plastic or steel pipe. It handles the transition at horizontal, vertical, or offset drain runs. Installation Notes
