Product Description

The FERNCO 1002-66 is a flexible shielded pipe coupling designed to join 6-inch clay pipe to plastic pipe (PVC or ABS) in drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems. The coupling uses a flexible elastomeric sleeve to create a leak-resistant, root-resistant connection without the need for special tools or hot-pour compounds. It is manufactured from durable plastic and is suited for below-grade and above-grade sewer and drain applications. Licensed plumbers and sewer contractors install this fitting during new construction, rehabilitation, or pipe repair work where dissimilar pipe materials must be joined.

This coupling is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems where existing clay sewer lines tie into newer plastic drain piping. Common install scenarios include lateral sewer repairs, cleanout installations, and tie-in work on municipal or private drain lines. The 1002-66 accommodates standard 6-inch pipe outside diameters and is appropriate for gravity-flow sewer and storm drain configurations. It is not rated for pressure service.

Installation Notes

Stainless steel clamps should be tightened evenly to manufacturer torque guidelines using a nut driver or torque wrench. Do not use this coupling in pressurized service lines or where pipe outside diameters fall outside the rated range.
