The FAIRLANE HS-50-C is a round positioning gripper designed to locate and hold workpieces securely during fixturing and machining operations. Machined from high speed steel with a black oxide finish, this gripper measures 0.5 inches in overall diameter and 0.38 inches in height. It features a fine tooth diamond serration pattern that bites into the workpiece surface to resist lateral movement under load. The counterbored mounting style accepts a No. 8 socket head cap screw (SHCS) for front-mount installation directly into a fixture plate or locating block. Toolmakers, fixture builders, and machine shop technicians install this type of component in production jigs, workholding fixtures, and automated assembly tooling.
This gripper is suited for precision workholding applications in both manual and automated fixturing setups. The diamond serration tooth pattern distributes clamping force evenly across the contact face, making it effective on flat, semi-finished, and finished workpiece surfaces where repeatability is required. Its compact 0.5 inch diameter footprint allows use in tight fixture layouts where space between locating features is limited. Typical applications include milling fixtures, inspection fixtures, and assembly nests in production machine shops and toolrooms.
Designed as a front-mount positioning gripper compatible with fixture plates and locating blocks drilled to accept a No. 8 socket head cap screw counterbore pattern.
Installation is typically performed by toolmakers or fixture technicians using standard hex key drivers. Ensure the mounting surface is clean and flat before seating the gripper to maintain locating accuracy. Torque the SHCS according to the fastener manufacturer specification for the screw size and material. De-energize or lock out any associated machine or automated system before installing or replacing grippers in a live fixture.
