The ESTWING MFG CO E3-22S is a 22 oz rip claw framing hammer built for heavy-duty rough framing and structural carpentry work. The head and handle are forged from a single piece of solid steel, eliminating the weak point at the connection found in wood- or fiberglass-handled hammers. A nylon-vinyl grip dampens vibration on high-volume nailing tasks. The full polished smooth face delivers clean, consistent strikes on framing nails without marring the nail head. This tool is designed for professional carpenters, framers, and general contractors who drive large volumes of nails throughout the workday.
The E3-22S is suited for residential and light commercial wood-frame construction, including wall framing, floor decking, roof sheathing, and structural assembly. The rip claw profile is optimized for prying apart framing lumber and pulling nails during demolition or corrections on the job site. The longer solid steel handle provides the leverage needed for 16d and larger framing nails in dimensional lumber.
Designed as a general-purpose rip claw framing hammer suitable for standard residential and light commercial wood-frame construction applications.
Inspect the hammer head and handle connection before each use to confirm there is no cracking, loosening, or deformation. Keep the face clean and free of grease or debris to maintain proper contact with nail heads and reduce the risk of glancing strikes. When prying with the rip claw, apply force gradually to avoid sudden slippage. Worn or damaged hammers should be removed from service immediately.
