The ERGODYNE 60140 is the Skullerz 8970, a Class E cap-style hard hat built for heavy-duty head protection on active job sites. It uses a 4-point ratcheting suspension system that adjusts with one hand without removing the hat, fitting head sizes 6.5 to 8 (21 to 25 inches / 53 to 63.5 cm). The interior is lined with a padded, moisture-wicking, odor-resistant sweatband and top pad across the sides, forehead, and crown. Both components are removable for easy replacement. The shell can be worn forward or reversed, with the reversed position improving upward sightlines. Weighing 1.2 pounds, the hat is designed for all-day wear with balanced weight distribution to prevent slippage.
This hard hat is suited for construction, utility, oil and gas, road work, forestry, mining, and general site work, including projects at altitude. Front, rear, and side accessory slots accept compatible Skullerz headlamps, ear protection, and face shields. The suspension includes dedicated attachment points for a Skullerz chin strap accessory. Licensed electricians, general contractors, and site safety personnel working in environments requiring Class E dielectric protection will find this hat appropriate for their compliance requirements.
Designed for use with Skullerz-series hard hat accessories including the Skullerz headlamp (available separately or with the 8970LED model), Skullerz chin strap, compatible ear protection, and hard hat face shields that fit standard side accessory slots.
Hard hat fitting and suspension adjustment should be performed before entering any work zone with head hazard exposure. Power down or de-energize equipment in the work area per site safety protocol before beginning any task requiring Class E protection. Inspect the shell and suspension for cracks, deformation, or UV degradation before each use and replace if damage is found. Refer to ANSI Z89.1 guidelines for inspection intervals and service life recommendations.
