The EMUGE GFT9B816.9677 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed to cut NPT (National Pipe Taper) internal threads in sizes 1/4-18 and 3/8-18. It features a 4-flute, left-hand helical flute geometry with a 0.400 inch cutting diameter and a 0.803 inch length of cut. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance for extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Ultra fine grain carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention at the cutting zone. This tool is suited for CNC machining centers where precision pipe thread forms are required in a single helical interpolation pass.
This thread mill is used in manufacturing and production machining environments where NPT pipe threads must be cut to tight tolerances in a range of workpiece materials. The 1/4-18 and 3/8-18 thread capacities make it applicable to fittings, manifolds, hydraulic blocks, and fluid system components. The straight cylindrical shank with a 0.500 inch diameter and 45 mm shank length suits standard ER and milling chuck toolholders. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation in blind and through-hole applications.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation; compatible with standard straight-cylindrical 0.500 inch bore toolholders including ER collet chucks and milling chucks. Cuts NPT thread forms per applicable pipe thread standards.
Thread milling requires a CNC control capable of helical interpolation - confirm machine compatibility before use. Secure the shank fully in a balanced, runout-minimized toolholder and verify tool projection before cutting. Set appropriate spindle speed, feed rate, and coolant flow per the material being machined; do not exceed the tool's rated cutting diameter during programming. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping between operations, as carbide tools can fail suddenly if run beyond serviceable condition.
