The EMUGE GFR15106.5009 is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal 1/4-20 UNC threads in a single helical pass. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers consistent thread quality and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 3-flute, right-hand geometry produces clean thread forms while keeping cutting forces manageable. With a 0.185 inch cutting diameter and a 0.524 inch length of cut, this tool is well suited for through and blind-hole threading applications where tap breakage risk is a concern. It is installed in a 1/4 inch shank toolholder and run on CNC machining centers.
This thread mill is used in precision machining environments where 1/4-20 UNC internal threads are required. It is appropriate for production and jobshop settings working in steel, aluminum, stainless, and similar materials. Because a single tool covers a range of hole depths and can be used for left- and right-hand threads with appropriate programming, it is a practical alternative to tapping in difficult materials or in applications where tool breakage recovery is critical. Machinists and CNC programmers in metalworking, aerospace, automotive, and general fabrication shops are the primary users.
Designed for CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation. Suitable for cutting 1/4-20 UNC internal threads. Accepts standard 1/4 inch shank toolholders.
Thread milling requires a CNC machining center with helical interpolation capability - confirm controller support before programming. Secure the shank fully in a collet or set-screw holder, ensuring runout is minimized, as runout directly affects thread accuracy. This tool does not use coolant-through delivery; flood or mist coolant applied externally is standard practice for chip clearing. Always verify spindle speed and feed calculations against the manufacturers recommended parameters for the target material before first use.
