The EMUGE CU973701.5016 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in a wide range of metals. It cuts a 3/4-10 UNC right-hand thread to a 2BX class of fit, making it suitable for close-tolerance tapping applications where standard 2B fitment is insufficient. The tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and carries a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, which increases surface hardness and reduces friction during cutting. With an overall length of 4.921 inches and a thread length of 1.181 inches, this tap is sized for production and maintenance tapping in machine tool setups. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and toolroom technicians.
This tap is built for blind hole applications across multiple workpiece materials, including aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper alloy, stainless steel, and steel. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a plug or taper chamfer allows. The 3-flute, slow-helix spiral flute geometry evacuates chips upward and out of the hole, which is critical when tapping blind holes to prevent chip packing and tap breakage. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and tapping heads where rigid or semi-rigid tapping is employed.
Designed for blind hole threading in aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper alloy, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Part of the EMUGE Rekord D series.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting, confirm the machine spindle and tap holder are clean and within the correct size range for a 0.590-inch shank diameter. Use rigid or tension-compression tapping holders as appropriate for the machine type and material being tapped. Always ensure the correct tap drill size has been used prior to tapping and that the workpiece is securely fixtured to prevent movement during the threading operation.
