The EMUGE CU539300.5018 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. Built to UNC thread standards at 1-8 threads per inch, this tap features a modified bottoming chamfer and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 35-degree helix angle. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding applications. Constructed from cobalt high-speed steel, it holds up under the heat and friction generated when tapping tough alloys and stainless steels. It is suited for production environments where consistent thread quality and tool longevity are priorities. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals are the primary users.
This tap is applied in blind hole threading operations across a broad material range including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and cast iron. The spiral flute geometry efficiently evacuates chips up and out of the hole, which is critical when threading blind bores where chips cannot exit downward. The 2B/3B class of fit makes it appropriate for general-purpose fastener threads requiring standard tolerance. It is well matched to CNC machining centers, manual mills, and tapping heads where right-hand thread production in production-depth blind holes is required.
Designed for blind hole UNC threading in workpiece materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, copper, and other non-ferrous metals. Compatible with standard tap holders and tapping heads accepting a 0.8-inch shank diameter with a 0.6-inch square drive.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following established tapping procedures for the workpiece material and machine setup. Always ensure the tap is properly aligned with the drilled hole centerline before engaging to prevent tap breakage. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material, particularly when tapping stainless steel or high-alloy grades. Power down and secure the machine before changing or inspecting the tap.
